Update on Carolyn Overnight -- Monday Morning @ 6:00 am

Family,

I have been with Carolyn overnight. Because she was able to sustain herself so long on her back yesterday, it set her back a little tonight and she was only able to stay on her back for about 20 minutes. I was privileged to help the nurse give her a sponge bath and change her gown. She actually breathed a few minutes at 100% on her own. She is "wiggling" around and trying to get her arms out of the contraption, so they have given her a little more sedation, but are monitoring it carefully, as they don't want her to have too much and then have to rely on the life support pump to keep her alive completely. Her oxygen saturation level remains at about 85, which is relatively good. The doctor will be in within a few hours to give us more updates.

I have read the comments from others on the blog....keep writing them and adding your thoughts. We want to print it out for Carolyn to have when she awakens from this deep sleep. I am touched by the outpouring of love, as is our whole family. Carolyn was one who just knew how to "touch" people by just being herself. What a remarkable and amazing gift.

We will continue to keep you up-to-date on her progress. We love her so much and want is what is best for her right now.

~Heidi

  12. We're praying for you Carolyn! I check this blog all the time to see how you're doing. Jason wants you to know that he's thinking of you as well. After my spinal cord injury and the surgery that went along with it, I contracted double pneumonia and a couple other things. Doctors only gave me a 10% chance of surviving and advised my parents to prepare to say goodbye. But I had a lot of people praying for me, just as you do, and things worked out just fine. Keep fighting and we'll keep praying! Hope to see you soon.

  14. My families prayers and thoughts are with you as well. I met Carolyn thru KP (they used to work at the AA together) when I was in the Disney College Program. I always remember she had the biggest smile on her face, and was always a joy to be around. Carolyn, keep fighting, don't let go.

  16. Hey Carolyn,

Gonna keep this a little light-hearted for you for when you get well. Me and Lydia are praying for you and we love you sooo much. Get well and get over here, we need a Heat catch-up night. You know what I mean. I can't say much more than what has already been said on here. All I can do is just repeat that you are so loved and missed and we need you back as soon as possible. You're a strong woman so now is the time to shine more than you already do.
    We love you.

  17. Carolyn and family. I just wanted to let you know that there were at least 40 of my friends (mostly EFY counselors, many of whom didn't even know you) who were fasting and praying for you yesterday. We all love you and are hoping for the best. Stay strong!
